Amir Zafaranian is a member of the Larner College of Medicine Class of 2027 and a recipient of the 2026 Robert Larner, M.D. '42 Student Award, which recognizes outstanding leadership and loyalty to the College. Before beginning his medical training at Larner in 2023, Amir earned dual bachelor's degrees in Biology and Spanish from the University of Florida, graduating cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

At Larner, Amir has become one of the College's most dedicated student ambassadors. As Lead Admissions Ambassador, he represents Larner at recruitment and institutional events, from Look at Larner and Match Day to the White Coat Ceremony and Board of Trustees visits, and serves as the primary student liaison for pre-interview activities, welcoming prospective and admitted students into the Larner community. Elected by his classmates to the Medical Curriculum Committee's Thematic Working Group and Evaluations Subcommittee, he brings student voices directly into decisions that shape the curriculum.

His leadership extends beyond campus. As leader of the Dermatology Interest Group, he has organized skin cancer screenings for local firefighters and melanoma education for peers and the community. Through MedMentors he mentors pre-health students and leads hands-on clinical skills panels, and as a trilingual volunteer (English, Spanish, and Farsi) he assists immigrant families navigating health insurance and social services. He has also served as a counselor at the American Academy of Dermatology's Camp Discovery, supporting children with chronic skin conditions.

An active researcher in dermatology and dermatopathology, Amir is currently working on several publications and has presented at national meetings. His contributions have been recognized with the Larner Medical Student Professionalism Award and nomination to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He intends to pursue a career in dermatology.
