About the Namesake and Fund
With the passing of A. Paul Krapcho on April 26th, 2024, the UVM community lost one of our most accomplished faculty members and scholars. Dr. Krapcho spent nearly 65 years at The University of Vermont and dedicated his life to improving the lives of others through his work in organic chemistry. Thousands of UVM graduate and undergraduate students benefited from his brilliant mind and passionate mentorship over the years.
Prior to his passing, Paul and his wife Arlene established the A. Paul and Arlene F. Krapcho Green and Gold Professorship in Chemistry at the University of Vermont. It was their desire to honor a UVM chemistry faculty member who embodies the same teacher-scholar commitment and desire to better human health through research and innovation championed by Paul.
