It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Elizabeth Marie Guevara-Laxamana on Friday, October 13, 2023. Elizabeth was an educator committed to advocacy, always seeking to level the playing field for her students. She mentored countless students and was there for them when they needed inspiration. During her time here at the University of Vermont, she touched so many lives with her wisdom, guidance, and presence.

To honor Elizabeth, her loved ones have come together to create the Elizabeth Marie Guevara-Laxamana Memorial Fund, an endowed fund that will ensure Elizabeth's impact is felt here at UVM forever. The endowment will support programming at the Mosaic Center for Students of Color (MCSC) and will also help create the Elizabeth Marie Guevara-Laxamana Community Room.
