In her memory and in recognition of her robust career in higher education, a memorial scholarship fund has been established so that Sharon's warmth, selflessness, and passion will live forever in the future generations of higher education professionals supported by this scholarship.

Additional information
Sharon Cindy Goodman earned her undergraduate degree in 1993 from the University of Vermont, majoring in Secondary Education and Teaching. She then continued her studies at UVM and earned her master’s degree in 1995 in Higher Education and Student Affairs.
During her graduate studies, Sharon was an Assistant Complex Coordinator on UVM’s Redstone campus. She began her professional career in Residence Life at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, starting as a Residence Director and then serving as the Assistant Dean. After 12 years at Reed, Sharon moved to Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington and served for 15 years as the Director of Residential and Dining Services.
Sharon was a dedicated higher education professional, wife, mother, mentor, and friend. She passed away in September 2022 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Sharon loved to hike, garden, cook, and spend time with family and friends. She left a wonderful legacy -- leading with heart, living life with joy and laughter, and serving thousands of students over the course of her nearly 30-year career.
Rick Gatteau ‘95, a UVM higher education classmate and close friend of Sharon’s, established this memorial scholarship fund in her honor and to support the next generation of higher education professionals who are enrolled in UVM’s Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) program.
