About the Namesake and Fund
Cody made a lasting impact on many during his time at UVM. His adventurous spirit was infectious, and he found joy in bringing joy to others. To honor his memory, we hope you will consider making a gift to the Cody Ray Surprise Scholarship.
This endowed scholarship, created through the generous support of Cody’s family, provides financial assistance to students in Exercise and Movement Sciences and celebrates Cody’s life and legacy.
Additional information
Cody Surprise was an incredibly involved student during his time at UVM. He thrived as a student in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and was set to graduate in May 2023.
Outside the classroom, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, climbing, skiing, and caving. He was actively involved in many groups and organizations on campus, including the Football Club, Climbing Club, and the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He also served as an enlisted infantryman in the Vermont National Guard and had recently returned from overseas deployment before his passing.
