We were saddened to learn of the loss of alum, athlete, fan, supporter, and friend to so many Fred Fayette '69, pictured above with his legendary smile, standing, 3rd from left.

Among many community remembrances, UVM Athletics shared their appreciation and sorrow in a May 1 story on their website. In 2015, Tom Weaver had shared his Beyond Coaching story, recalling Fred's somewhat reluctant early involvement on UVM's Nordic skiing team, his love of boating, his knowledge of history. his commitment as (volunteer) assistant coach, and absolute dedication to decades of UVM athletes. "Both savvy advisor and beloved uncle to skiers across generations, Fayette is a man with a lively mind and a warm spirit." 

To say he will be remembered fondly and deeply missed is an understatement.
