
Prescott Richardson Lovejoy '24
(August 3, 1902 – December 24, 1947)

Prescott R. Lovejoy '24 was born in Springfield, VT to Fred P. and Lilla Richardson Lovejoy.
After graduating from Springfield High School, he attended the University of Vermont, where he earned his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering. Following his graduation, he worked for Fellows Gear Shaper Company and then came to the Lovejoy firm as an engineer. In 1940, Lovejoy succeeded his father as president and general manager of the company, after the latter's death.
Lovejoy was a treasurer from the Twin State branch of the American Society of Tool Engineers, a director of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Congregational Church, the Camera Club, Mucross Trout Club, and the Springfield Rotary Club.
At the time of his untimely death, following a year of illness, he was survived by his wife, Veda Walker, their daughter, Lucille Lovejoy Doane '51, and his mother, Mrs. Lilla R. Lovejoy.
